Going Somewhere? Facebook Adds ‘Traveling To’ Option For Status Updates

Facebook posted a photo on its page Wednesday, urging users to share their travel plans with friends.

The social network shared a photo of a status update about traveling to San Diego, with the headline, “Friends make trips better, even when they’re not there,” and the text:

Stay connected by telling your friends where you’re traveling to. Learn more here:http://bit.ly/travelingto

The link takes users to this page on Facebook’s Help Center, which offers instructions on how to share feelings or activities in status updates, including “traveling to.”

Facebook told TechCrunch the traveling to option is now available to all users, by clicking on the smiley-face button in the status update box. TechCrunch added that some destinations have custom emoticons, such as the Statue of Liberty for New York or the Hollywood sign for Los Angeles.

Readers: Have you used or will you use the traveling to option in status updates?
